If you have your own bat and helmet we encourage you to bring them. If you don't have a bat or helpmet, we will have extras to use. Please wear sneakers or turf shoes. Cleats are not permitted. What will you do: Evaluation stations include players performing the basics of baseball: throwing, catching, fielding, pitching, and batting. Coaches will observe and evaluate each player in anticipation of drafts. There are no guaranteed spots in the Minors for 8 year olds, some 8’s may be drafted to the Minors based upon available roster spots, player safety and playing evaluations.
Major League: All 11 and 12 year old players need to attend one Evaluation Session (many go to both). All 11 and 12 year olds will be drafted to a team. For those 10 year olds who want to be considered for Majors, please let the HWLL Official at the sign-in table know that you want your son/daughter to be considered for Majors. There are no guaranteed spots for 10 year olds in the Majors, some 10 year olds may be drafted to the Majors based upon available roster spots, player safety and playing evaluations.
All 9 and 10 year old players are guaranteed a spot on a Minors team; all 11 and 12 year olds are guaranteed a spot on a Majors team. The most important thing to remember in preparing for evaluations is that it is another day of baseball fun!!
And lastly, if you have a player who is signed up for AA and has not played at least one year of A Farm baseball please let us know as those players are strongly encouraged to play 1 year of A Farm to develop as a player. AA is a big step towards highly competitive baseball, and if you feel the need to have a recommendation from the HWLL, we invite you and your player to come to the first evaluation session between 4 - 4:55PM. HWLL Board members will be on hand to help with your decision.
